The Savage Model 1907 is an early American pocket pistol, and this one, serial 179579, was made in 1917. It is chambered in .32 ACP with a 3.75-inch barrel. The supplier grades it very good overall: about 20 percent of the original blue survives, the rest of the metal has turned a bluish plum patina that gives the gun a sharp, even look, and the grips are excellent.
A century-old Savage is a collector's pistol, bought for the patina and the design rather than as a defensive gun, and this one's condition sits in the honest middle ground where it shows its age plainly. In Utah it transfers like any other handgun: photo identification, Form 4473 and the state's point-of-contact check through the Bureau of Criminal Identification at your dealer, with no permit to purchase, no registration and no waiting period, and a federal minimum age of 21.
