Browning's A5 in 16 gauge is a recoil-operated semi-automatic using the Kinematic Drive System, with a 26-inch lightweight barrel, a 2 3/4-inch chamber and 4+1 capacity. The humpback receiver is aircraft-grade aluminum alloy anodized green and black, and the gloss walnut stock has a close-radius pistol grip, 18 lines-per-inch checkering and an Inflex recoil pad. It weighs 6 pounds, measures 47.25 inches, and the 14 1/4-inch length of pull adjusts with the included spacers, as do cast and drop through shims.

A fiber optic front sight and ivory mid-bead on a flat ventilated rib line up fast on flushing birds, and the three Invector DS choke tubes let the pattern match the cover. The magazine plug comes out when it is not needed, and a 6-pound sixteen is a comfortable gun to carry through a long day of upland walking in Utah.
