The Manti-La Sal National Forest above Scofield and the BLM benches toward Nine Mile Canyon are the local hunting and shooting country, and Scofield Reservoir holds ducks into October.
The Division of Wildlife Resources runs two public shooting centers, Lee Kay in Salt Lake City and Cache Valley in Logan. Both are open to anyone, charge a range fee and need no hunting license. Utah has no other state-run ranges, so away from those two most target shooting happens on BLM and national forest ground, where it is allowed if done safely and the area is not posted closed.
