CZ DUTY 4.0 C MS

Between the Wasatch Front and the small towns down through Nephi, Manti and Richfield, Utah buys a lot of 9mm pistols for the simple reason that one gun covers the house, the hip and the range. CZ's new DUTY 4.0 is built to be that gun. It is a new-generation striker-fired 9x19 on a serialized internal chassis; the fiberglass-reinforced polymer grip frame is modular. The slide mounts red dots directly with fixed sights retained, and the barrel is 4 inches and not threaded.

Salt Lake City, Provo and Ogden shooters who carry will look at the DUTY 4.0 C: 15+1 standard or 17+1 with the extended base plate, 770 g, 135 mm tall. Logan and Brigham City home-defense buyers often prefer the full-size DUTY 4.0 F: 17+1 standard or 19+1 extended, 780 g, 143 mm tall. Both are offered with a manual thumb safety as MS models or without. CZ's refined SFDA trigger: 25±4 N (5.6±0.9 lbs), 9±1 mm travel, 4 mm reset. New release, $729 MSRP.

Pick the C when the gun has to disappear under a cover garment. It gives up two rounds to the service-size model (15+1 against 17+1) and about 8 mm of grip height, and in return it is 5.3 in (135 mm) tall and 27.2 oz (770 g) light.

Three things define the DUTY 4.0. First, a serialized modular chassis: the serialized part is inside, the grip frame around it is modular. Second, the trigger, a striker SFDA rated at 25 ± 4 N (5.6 ± 0.9 lbs), 0.16 in (4 mm) reset, 9 ± 1 mm (0.4 ± 0.04 in) travel, which is short and repeatable for a service pistol. Third, a direct-mount optics-ready slide, shown by CZ with Holosun, Aimpoint and Shield dots fitted, so a optic sits low without a stack of plates.

This is the version with a manual thumb safety. The three automatic safeties (firing pin block, trigger safety, trigger-bar safety) are the same as on every DUTY; the lever is an extra for people who were trained on one or simply want one.

The CZ DUTY 4.0 C MS suits anyone who wants a modern optics-ready 9mm with CZ's grip and a trigger that is better than the class average: concealed carry where your state allows it, home defense, and range time that does not need a service-size grip.

Utah has no permit to purchase and no waiting period. Name the Utah dealer you want at checkout and the DUTY 4.0 ships to that FFL. Your dealer runs the state background check at pickup and releases the pistol. Ammunition and gear go straight to your door. The order runs a live stock and price confirmation first, so you pay on current numbers.

Questions buyers ask: Is there a waiting period for handguns in Utah? No. Utah has no permit to purchase and no waiting period; your dealer runs the state background check when you pick up. What is the serialized part on the DUTY 4.0? The internal chassis carries the serial number. The fiberglass-reinforced polymer grip frame is a modular part around it. What does MS mean on the CZ DUTY 4.0 C MS? Manual safety. It adds a thumb safety lever to the firing pin block, trigger safety and trigger-bar safety that every DUTY has.
